The Health and Wellness Program at NWH is designed to support our patients in parallel to their medical treatment plan after receiving a diagnosis of cancer. In addition to traditional medical treatment (i.e., radiation therapy, chemotherapy, etc.), a dedicated Nurse Practitioner Care Coordinator works with our patients and their caregivers to include four additional disciplines in the care plan: nutritional assessment and planning, integrative medicine strategies, fitness and exercise programs and emotional support.
Each week practitioners from all disciplines (nutrition, integrative medicine, fitness and rehabilitation and mindful wellness) meet with the Care Coordinator and Medical Director of the Program. They discuss all aspects of our patients' care to ensure a coordinated and holistic support plan of care.
NWH continually attracts first-rate physicians, surgeons, and radiologists who have trained in some of the nation’s most prestigious medical schools.
A Team Approach: The Perspective of Many Disciplines
Under the leadership of our cancer care specialists, cancer treatment at NWH is built around detailed, comprehensive plans for each patient...plans that specify not only the medical, surgical, and radiation therapies required, but also the need for various forms of physical, emotional and other support.
