The Tumor Board at NWH
Through our Tumor Board, cancer patients at NWH may have their case discussed by a multi-specialty forum.
A dedicated multidisciplinary team of cancer experts—including radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, surgeons, and pathologists—meet every week in our Tumor Board to discuss patients newly diagnosed with cancer. Consideration of our patients’ lifestyle, other conditions and needs are factored to formulate a personalized cancer care plan. The latest cancer research findings are reviewed in light of the individual case to determine how the findings of such cutting-edge investigations can be effectively applied to each patient’s treatment.
Weekly Tumor Board meetings are dedicated to a specific tumor, such as gynecologic, prostate, or brain, etc.
In addition, there is another weekly Tumor Board dedicated to Breast Cancer; once a month the Breast Tumor Board also reviews cases of women with gynecologic cancer.
The Cancer Committee at NWH
The Cancer Committee is comprised of representatives from the medical, nursing, and support staff. These experts meet regularly to discuss trends and treatment alternatives, as well as make recommendations to enhance the range of services available to you.
