Alfred Tinger MD, FACRO is an award-winning physician known for his compassionate patient care, outstanding surgical skills, and ongoing service to the community. He is a board-certified radiation oncologist, and he specializes in both radiation oncology and Gamma Knife radiosurgery.
He earned his medical degree at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn, NY, and completed his radiology internship at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Copperstown, NY. This was followed by a residency in radiation oncology at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University School of Medicine and the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis. Missouri.
Dr. Tinger is an active member of a number of professional organizations, and he continues to pursue ongoing education and training in the latest cancer treatments and technologies.
NWH Chief of Radiation Oncology
Dr. Tinger has served as Chief of Radiation Oncology since 2002 and as Vice-Chairman of the Medical Board at Northern Westchester Hospital since 2011. He is a long-standing member of both the Westchester County Medical Society, and is a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology. He has also served as the NWH Cancer Liaison Physician to the American College of Surgeons since 2013.
Dr. Tinger's research on breast cancer, skin cancer, lung and liver cancer, and radiation treatment techniques has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals. He regularly lectures at national and international medical conferences, and he facilitates patient education meetings through the American Cancer Society.
